“I Am The Door John 10:9

When you consider this passage and think of Jesus as “The Door,” what kind of door do you think of?  Do you see only “The Door” that pictures Him standing there knocking or do you consider other doors like a door on The Price is Right or maybe even the door on a C131 Air Force transport as a person steps up to take a parachute jump.

On the Price is Right you would be given the opportunity to choose which door you wish to consider knowing there is a wonderful prize behind each one with one containing the ultimate prize.  If the contestant, comes closest to the actual cost of the prize that person wins.  If Jesus is “The Door” and you chose that door; the prize was salvation. We are reminded every Easter about the cost of that wonderful prize - He gave his life as a substitute for yours and mine.

On the C131 you have a different type of door. This door is one that Easter ought to inspire us to step through.  When you step up to that door and look through it – it takes your breath away, your heart begins to beat a little faster, you begin to sweat and you might even feel a sense of fear creeping over you.

You might even consider praying as Jesus did in the Garden of Gethsemane; “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.” (Luke 22:42).  As you step into that door, you will pause and remind yourself, I now choose this door and when I step through it I am committed.  There is no turning back.

Ask yourself which door do you see Jesus at in your life this Easter?  Door #1, containing the wonderful prize of salvation or is it Door #2, Total Commitment.  Jesus is available at both doors.  Why not choose both!

Prayer:  Lord Jesus you are “The Door.”  Help us be willing to open “The Doors” of our life and allow you to enter and be a part of our daily life.  Lord, help us be willing to take the next step through “The Door” of commitment that will lead us to the final door - the reward of eternal life.  AMEN
